MYOCARDIAL PERFUSION STRESS TEST

In the stress test (Cardiovascular “Stress Test”), cardiac angina is induced by gradually increasing exercise. In this test, a stress test is initially performed, and when it is discontinued for whatever reason, a radioactive material (Thallium 201, Sestamibe, Tegnetium) is injected. These materials are concentrated in the cardiac muscle and emit radiation that allows visualization of the myocardium. Non-visualized areas are interpreted as circulatory deficient or ischemic.
