Drug-coated balloons (DCBs) deliver antiproliferative agents directly to the coronary vessel wall via a semicompliant balloon coated with drugs (typically paclitaxel, sirolimus, or everolimus) embedded in a carrier matrix that rapidly diffuses into the vessel wall during inflation, without requiring permanent stent implantation.
