Dealing with hurricane damages can be overwhelming, but knowing how to handle an insurance claim can lighten the burden. We have provided a guide below on how to file a claim successfully, either for your home or for your vehicle.

 1. Make sure you have the necessary documentation available.

To file a Home Insurance claim

  • Cost estimates, invoices, or payment receipts substantiating the claimed amounts

3. What happens after you file your claim?

  • A claim number is assigned. After you report your loss, you will be assigned a claim number for future reference.
  • The documentation is evaluated. Our claims department will review the submitted documentation to check that the information is complete.
  • An adjuster is assigned. The adjuster will assess the damages and the estimates for the repairs or replacements required.
  • Adjuster report. The adjuster will file a report, which will be shared with you, showing the damage estimate and the payment allocated pursuant to the provisions, terms, and coverage of your policy.

Filing a claim may seem complicated, but if you follow these steps and make sure that your payments are up to date and that you have all the necessary documentation, it will be easier for you to file and receive the assistance you need to recover your home or vehicle after a hurricane.
